SANTA CRUZ -- Hundreds of students, faculty and workers gathered at the entrances to UC Santa Cruz Thursday morning, effectively blockading the campus and closing it down for the day.
The protesters, who also amassed at universities across the country, were decrying billions in cuts to education nationwide.
